Twice a year the ScaligeraPhilately & Numismatics Society of Verona organises a big exhibition called VERONAFIL, which is one of the main events in this field and attracts hundreds of traders and tens of thousands of collectors to Verona.
"The Exhibition of Stamps, Postcards, Franked Envelopes, Coins & Medals." Veronafil represents an important commercial exchange to traders and collectors, enhanced by various cultural and commemorative events. It explores the areas of philately, numismatics, postcards, prints, and much more.
The Scaligera Philately & Numismatics Society of Verona (A.F.N.S) was founded in Verona in July 2nd 1933. The Society has been named in honour of the ancient and noble "Della Scala" family, who many centuries ago - during a more than a century-long rule - brought power and enlightenment to Verona.
Learn the history of the Scaligero family, the ruling family of Verona in the middle age, with a visit to the impressive Castelvecchio and Scaligero Bridge. The 14th century Castelvecchio is located on the banks of the river Aldige and the adjoining, fortified bridge offers fabulous views of both the castle and the river itself. It was built in 1355 by the Scala family but was successively modified by future invaders such as Venetians, the French and the Austrians.
