Centenary of the Irish Civil War National Stamps
The Civil War in Ireland was a hugely significant and divisive episode which had a long-lasting impact on Irish society and politics. To mark the centenary of this traumatic period in Irish history, An Post issued a stamp on June 25 that focuses on the incident that began the war.
This stamp to mark the 100th anniversary of the beginning of hostilities on June 28, 1922 consists of a painting of the burning of the Four Courts in Dublin by artist Mick O’Dea, titled ‘Commencement of Hostilities’.
